Trio

For this series of drawings I chose simple line work and composition, with the addition of abstract color strokes. The idea is to say that while something may appear simplistic, or common, the underlying emotion may be unexpected-more colorful or complex than what one sees on the surface.

narrative painting #3

After 6 months I return to school for craig's narrative painitng class, which is one of the most difficult class in art department, from my opinion.
We have 60 choices of theme for assignment #3. I chose "This was one unhappy camper". Since I didn't know the meaning of the line. I created the illustration literally on it. Here is the color com of the piece. Next to it is the under drawing of the illustration. In this stage I used gesso and modeling paste to create the background texture. It represents the chaos environment.

Across the Universe

I did this illustration for a song of the Beatles, Across the Universe. It was the assigment from Portfolio class.
I tried to translate the beautiful lyric into the paper, such as " words are flowing out like endless rain", :drifting through my open mind" and "million eyes". It's done by collage and ink. Now I am trying some color effect on separete material. Then I will play it in the PS.

Snow White and Friends

This assignment is Propaganda. When I watch some of the Disney's Films, how human and animal are friendly to each other, sharing and respecting what mother nature provide to us, I think they sugarcoat the reality. Here the innocent looking Snow White stands in the middle of burning forest, the changing of environment hurts the animal, also the human.

editorial "Conformity"

It's an editorial work for a scientific article "The Selfless Gene". From studying of chimpanzee, they have ability to fit in with a group and adopt its customs. Here a girl and monkeys soak in gene pool-to fit in better they have to put on smiling mask and nice to each other-even in the nature we are not so selfless at all.
